The CBS Advantage

CBS Advantage

Explore our CBS visual plant tour and see how Custom Building Systems builds every modular home with precision, strength, and efficiency. Our construction process ensures superior durability, energy efficiency, and long-lasting quality for homeowners and builders alike.

From the foundation to the finishing touches, our team carefully designs and constructs each element. First, we extend exterior wall sheathing over floor and ceiling perimeter bands to enhance structural integrity. Then, we install batt insulation, DOW rigid foam, and spray foam around exterior receptacles, which maximizes energy efficiency in walls and subfloors. Additionally, foam gaskets along marriage walls and sealed floor-to-wall connections prevent air leaks, maintaining comfort throughout the home.

Inside, we apply spray adhesive to ceilings to prevent nail pops. Next, we reinforce horizontal drywall seams with cutoffs and mud, strengthening walls for long-term durability. We also add extra blocking behind cabinets, shelves, and mirrors to create secure fastening points. Furthermore, we reinforce corners and wall intersections with lag screws and nail-then-screw walls, producing a sturdier, longer-lasting structure.

To prevent air and water intrusion, we wrap doors and windows with flashing and apply spray foam around framing penetrations and electrical boxes. We seal HVAC floor boots with Shurtape to ensure an airtight system and consistent airflow.

Together, these features demonstrate CBS’s commitment to meticulous craftsmanship, careful planning, and attention to detail. By combining structural integrity, insulation, sealing, and interior reinforcement, we create homes that remain strong, energy-efficient, and built to last. As you explore the photos below, you can clearly see how each step contributes to superior modular homes designed for years of comfort, performance, and reliability.

Better HVAC seal

Floor Boots for the HVAC are sealed to the floor using Shurtape ensuring an air tight seal.

Sturdier Walls

Walls are initially placed and fastened with nails before being screwed for a final extra sturdy connection.

Structural Rigidity

Corners and Perpendicular intersections of walls are lagged into place using 1/4” lags for additional structural rigidity.

Shelf & Mirror Installation

OSB backer boards are installed behind the drywall for shelf and mirror installation providing a secure area for fastening.

Extra Blocking

Blocking is installed behind drywall for fastening of all wall and base cabinets.

Spray Foam

Spray Foam is applied to all exterior framing penetrations ensuring a more air tight home.

Door & Window Wrap

Door and window flashing is used after installation to seal against water and air penetration.

No Nail Pops

Ceiling drywall is adhered using state of the art spray adhesive instead of standard fasteners to eliminate the possibility of nail pops once a structure has settled.

Foam Gaskets

Foam gasket material is installed on one side of each marriage wall to ensure an air tight seal upon the setting of the units on the foundation.

Clean Sub Floor System

OSB & Plywood Sub floors are covered with a protective plastic during the production process to ensure a clean sub floor system for the final floor covering installation.

Sealed Wall to Flooring

DOW Exterior Rigid Foam Insulation is used between all pipes and conduits located in exterior walls to ensure no energy efficiency is lost due to the pipes being installed.

Added Structural Integrity

A foam strip is inserted between the exterior wall and the floor system to ensure an airtight seal.

Batt Insulation & DOW Exterior Rigid Foam Insulation

Exterior wall sheathing extends over the floor and ceiling perimeter bands adding more strength and integrity.

Energy Efficient Foam

Spray foam is used on the exterior side of electrical boxes installed on the exterior walls to ensure maximum energy efficiency.

Stronger Seams

Horizontal drywall seams are reinforced with excess drywall cutoffs and drywall mud to ensure stronger seams.
